Southern States

40.00

This limited edition print was the very first created for our Richmond Landmark series. The Southern States silos are an iconic structure in downtown Richmond, VA - visible within the city and from I-95 as you pass through the city.

Southern States first began as the "Virginia Seed Service" co-op in 1923, consisting of about 150 farmers throughout Virginia who came together in Richmond to procure better seeds for the crop growing conditions within the state. By the 1930's the co-op had grown and began serving other surrounding states - thus changing its name to the "Southern States Cooperative." Today, they are not only one of the nation's largest farmer cooperatives, but a contributor to the world's largest seed-breeding research organization.
